Limerick’s annual Christmas Remembrance Tree will be erected as usual at the junction of Bedford Row and O Connell St on the 30th November 2018 and will be operated by members of the Limerick Thomond Rotary Club for the period of 1st December to 23rd December 2018.
The Remembrance Tree will function each day from 10.30am to 5pm throughout this period when citizens and visitors may write a name on a yellow ribbon of some person who has passed away or is unable to be at home this Christmas. The ribbons are free and the public may make a donation if desired for the benefit of the nominated charities.
From 1st December to 23rd December 2018, the tree will become a sea of yellow with thousands of ribbons fixed to its branches and it is expected that during this period over 10,000 names will be remembered on the tree while visiting choirs and music groups will provide entertainment during this time.
