Limerick City centre on-street parking from €1 an hour is one of the cheapest in the country with 3,500 spaces available. Below are a list of parking friendly initiatives for Christmas in Limerick.

Where: Cleeve’s, O’Callaghan Strand
Dates: Friday 7th - Monday 31st Dec 2018

Limerick City & County Council will provide approximately 220 free car parking spaces to the public at the Council owned Cleeves site from Friday 7th December.
The free parking will be made available to the public throughout the Christmas period up until and including New Year’s Eve. The car park will open at 9am and close at 9pm.
The Cleeves site located adjacent to Shannon Bridge and accessed from the Condell Road will be available to the public free of charge. The public will be provided with two car parks where security will be provided.

Limerick City & County Council will also be making available the staff car park behind City Hall for free weekend parking for three weekends in December. The car park will be available on the 8th/9th December, 15th/16th December and 22nd/23rd December 2018 from 9am to 9pm and also Christmas Eve.
In total, Limerick City & County Council will be providing approximately 300 free car parking spaces to the public. The Park & Stride initiative is in keeping with objectives of Healthy Limerick in promoting active travel for the public. The Council are encouraging the public to be active this Christmas and walk the last 5-10 minutes of their journey to shop in the city centre.

A third site for Park and Stride has been made available by Irish Rail on the Roxborough Road. Irish Rail in association with the Council are providing free parking from 9am-9pm on the 8th and 9th December and also from 15th to 24th December (9am-9pm) including Christmas Eve.
The public can park their cars free of charge where security will be provided during these periods.
Limerick City and County Council have also secured Park and Ride sites for the three weekends in the run up to the Christmas period.

The South Court Hotel in Raheen are making their lower car park (in front of the conference centre) available to the public free of charge on the 8th/9th December, 16th December and 22nd/23rd December 2018 from 9am to 9pm.
The public will be able to park their cars at the hotel and take public transport at Raheen roundabout to the city centre

The University of Limerick are also making their car park adjacent to the Stables available to the public on the 8th/9th December, 15th/16th December and 22nd/23rd December 2018 from 9am to 9pm.
The public can park their cars and take public transport to the city centre.

Christmas Shopping in Limerick …. Take the hassle out of travel by taking the bus
Leave the car at home this festive season and travel into and around Limerick city with Bus Éireann.
High frequency routes include the 301 from Westbury and Father Russell Road, Route 302 from Caherdavin and Route 304/304A from the Castletroy and Raheen areas into Limerick City Centre. City routes around Limerick serve hospitals, colleges and the main Shopping Centres such as the Crescent and Childers Road. Bus Éireann operate eight buses per hour between the city centre and the Crescent Shopping Centre, while a 15 minute frequency operates between the City Centre and the Childers Road, Parkway and Castletroy shopping areas of the city.
Twelve new double decker buses will commence service in Limerick city this year, joining those already in operation to cater for the growing passenger numbers travelling on services. The high capacity hi-spec vehicles can cater for up to 91 passengers and will be deployed on the busiest routes in the city. Funded by the National Transport Authority (NTA), Bus Éireann continue to work with them on ongoing network development in Limerick. Bus Éireann also provide high frequency services from towns such as Ennis, Shannon and Adare into Limerick city centre.
Customers can now access Real Time Information either through a phone app or at www.buseireann.ie or TransportforIreland.ie, this information allows customers to plan their journey more efficiently by accurately displaying when exactly their bus is due to arrive at a particular bus stop. In addition to this a number of bus stops in Limerick City also have Real Time Passenger Information signs which accurately counts a buses arrivals in real time.
When travelling around Limerick make sure you use your Leap card with discounts of up to 30% on single city trips - reducing a city journey from €2.30 to €1.61.
